Kia Motors now has a firm foot in the Indian automotive market gate. Their first item is-Kia Seltos, surprise surprise, a compact SUV, rivaling the likes of the Tata Harrier, the Mahindra XUV, and the Jeep Compass. If you have held off your vehicle purchasing choices until you have more clarity on Kia, your wait is over. If you’re wondering where to hand over the check-the vehicle has just been revealed, not started. So information about its cost at this stage is strictly speculative. However, considering its rivalry, the Seltos are likely to be within the Rs 11-Rs 17 lakh.
Kia Seltos Latest Updates
Finally, Kia Motors took the wraps off the Seltos and it looks true to the SP idea that was presented at the 2018 Auto Expo. The Kia Seltos has been specifically intended and produced for the Indian market and looks promising as a general package. The Seltos ‘ general design language is aggressive and a sharp line on the face and shoulder helps shape its bulges aesthetically. The face features the broad Tiger nose grill and it is surrounded by chrome. Sleek LED headlamps, DRLs, bold claddings that integrate silver skid plates and angular detailing on the face and hood add a feeling of modernity to the design.
A bit of Creta’s flavor is also noticeable on the side, especially with the way pillars have been designed. However, the rising window line and sculpting on the rear haunches are unique. The rear of the car looks very urban and the tailgate is aesthetically segmented, giving almost equal area to the raked windscreen and lower sections. Elements like sleek chrome bar which insets into the tail lamps and dual exhaust finished in faux silver add to the looks as well. What also builds upon the contemporary looks are in-trend elements like the dual-tone roof, silver roof rails and 17-inch machined alloy wheels.

The big news is that with two separate design models-Tech Line and GT Line-Kia will make the Seltos accessible. This is the first time that a model will be accessible in a dual trim option in the compact SUV segment. While the Tech Line will concentrate more on premium looks and characteristics in line with convenience, the GT Line will be more youthful and will have more creative characteristics. The Kia Seltos is also a connected car and yes, as its sister company Hyundai has introduced this very idea in the Venue subcompact SUV, it was quite anticipated now. So, after the MG Hector, the Seltos becomes the second compact SUV connected.
Kia calls it UVO and you can, just like we’ve seen in the Venue, use your phone to operate the car’s ignition, AC controls and more. There’s also Apple Carplay and Android Auto on offer. That’s not the end of the segment-first features yet, the Seltos SUV also gets an 8-inch heads up display which gives you all the information you need without being distracted. There’s also a sound mood lamp, rear sunshade curtain and a 7-inch color TFT unit for the instrument console, which adds to the premiumness of the Seltos.
Kia is preparing to launch the Seltos in India in the month of August this year and between Rs. 11 lakh and 17 lakh is anticipated to be priced. The new compact SUV is also fitted with a package of first characteristics in the segment, along with a lovely design, and has an impressive variety of engine and gearbox choices. Kia will be offering the Seltos in India with a 1.4-liter GDI Turbo petrol engine and a 1.5-liter diesel engine, both compliant with BS6. Gearbox alternatives include an automatic six-speed torque converter, a dual-clutch (DCT) seven-speed transmission, a CVT gearbox, and a manual six-speed transmission.
